Mississippi, USA (June 17, 2022) Having debuted her first two singles, “Stand” and “In The Shallow” earlier this year, Jackson native, Amara Nicole, continues to showcase her songwriting talent in a brand new Soul single, “A Million Reasons”. It is not everyday that a contemporary songwriter draws inspiration from the academic world; however, Amara weaned inspiration for this particular record from her own experience as a law school student. In general, the competitive nature of the law school environment can be quite taxing both mentally and physically for students. Acknowledging her own mental health challenges before and during law school, Amara decided to turn to music as a form of therapy. Through her songwriting structure and lyricism, Amara attempted to replicate the stream of consciousness narrative style found in literature in order to mimic her own ruminating thoughts. Always aiming to find the bright light in every situation, with an unexpected tempo change, the song transitions from a melancholy tone to an energetic groove that takes listeners on a journey to rediscover their “why”.
In creating this record, Amara again worked with Producer Terrance Evans of Jackson. In part, some instrumentation on this project was recorded LIVE at Crown Studios in Jackson, featuring Pianist, Terrance Evans, Drummer, David “Dee” Curry III, and Bass Guitarist, Deaquan Curry. To add final rhythmic touches, Granard McClendon later contributed the electric guitar. The cover art is from the family archives, but Graphic Designer Allyson Durr provided the edit. Mixed and mastered by Shell Enns, “A Million Reasons” will have you ready to dance, just in time for the upcoming Juneteenth holiday.
