Docu-Series & Chill Vibes

JXN AFTER 5

I’m always looking for cool things to do after work while in my favorite micro-city. So last night, I had taken up the invitation to attend a cool event sponsored by my City’s Visitor’s Bureau along with a few friends at a cute boutique hotel, the Old Capitol Inn. At this event, a new documentary series entitled, “JXN: The City With Soul”, premiered detailing the ins and outs of my hometown, Jackson, MS.

MOVIE REVIEW

While the film did have a few corny, seemingly-overproduced transitions, I really enjoyed the film. It was humorous, entertaining, and sparked excitement for me to learn more about my hometown. And well, the snacks and drink options didn’t hurt either. The documentary presented my City in a positive light while spotlighting some of my favorite spots. I was even surprised to hear about some new places in Midtown and the historic Farish Street District that I had not yet visited. From the historic sites to the rhythmic night-life, the film highlighted just a couple of establishments that really contribute to the culture and identity of Jackson.

THE PARTY’S NOT OVER

After the documentary’s premiere, my friends and I headed to the rooftop to continue the fun and meet cool Jacksonians. We finished off the night in the lobby of the Old Capitol Inn with Gordie, a hotel employee and awesome guitarist. We had and awesome impromptu sing-along/ karaoke session which featured a vocal harmony and an impressive rap by my friend Cedric with the help of Gordie’s skills. I’m thinking my friends and I need to start a band as a side gig.

IT’S YOUR TURN!

Hopefully, your interest will be peaked, and you’ll come to love it too. Be sure to follow me on IG for more of my JXN fun.

Shoe Deets: While I don’t have a photo of my footwear, I was sporting my favorite Chinese Laundry tie-up booties from my previous OOTD post.
